Area Rug Cleaning

Careful cleaning for your area rugs.

Area rugs add comfort and character, but their fibers can collect dust, soil, spills, and odors. We clean area rugs based on the rug’s material, construction, color stability, and overall condition.

Questions We Get

Area rug cleaning questions

Wool cleans well with the right method, but it is sensitive to heat and over-wetting, and hand-knotted or antique rugs often have dyes that can move. We evaluate the rug and test for color stability first. If a piece needs specialized handling beyond what we do, we will say so rather than take the risk.
That depends on the rug. Many synthetic and lower-pile rugs can be cleaned in place. Rugs that need full immersion, thorough rinsing, or controlled drying are better handled off the floor. We decide after seeing the rug and we tell you which it is before anything moves.
It is worth checking. A rug that has been damp, whether from a spill, a pet, or a plant, can leave the hardwood or padding underneath affected even when the rug looks fine. Since we also do water damage work, we will flag it if we see it.
Some rugs, particularly hand-made and older pieces, have dyes that are not fully colorfast. That is exactly why we test an inconspicuous area before cleaning. If a rug fails the test we stop and talk with you about options.
Drying is the long part, not the cleaning. Depending on the fiber, thickness, and method, a rug may need anywhere from several hours to a couple of days to dry fully. Wool and thick pile take the longest.

Results depend on the rug’s age, materials, previous treatments, and type of staining.
